(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Lebanese Presidential Guard brigade Brigadier General Mustafa Hamdan said on Wednesday that the Israeli enemy was unable to launch a new war in the region in the near future. Speaking in an exclusive interview with Al-Manar website, Hamdan called to distinguish between the current situation in the region and the ability of Israel to launch a war. “The war decision depends on the Israeli internal front and the capacity of the Israeli side to achieve victory in the case of war,” he explained. “However, military analysis proves that Israel is not going to lauch a ‘suicide’ war,” he stressed as he ruled out any imminent Israeli war in the region in the light of the latest developments in Egypt, which are scaring the Israeli enemy. Hamdan, who seemed enthusiastic over the Egyptian Revolution, refused to describe the US stance as ambiguous. “The American administration is only concerned with protecting the Zionist national security and safeguarding the Camp David accord as well as the Israeli-American-Egyptian military cooperation,” he said. “The Americans are not concerned anymore with President Hosni Mubarak,” Hamdan said. He expressed, however, confidence that the Egyptian nation will not surrender before reaching all their announced goals, including the departure of the Egyptian president, the cancellation of the Camp David accord as well as the closure and occupation of the Israeli embassy in Egypt alongside putting an end to the military cooperation between Egypt and US-Israel. He also said that Washington failed in changing the national mentality of the Egyptian army. Turning to Lebanon, the brigadier general told Al-Manar website that the steps taken by the national opposition since the collapse of Saad Hariri’s government were deliberate and fully-considered. He rejected the logic of a technocrat or unity government. “There’s an unfair side which used to dominate the Lebanese governments. This side must not take part in the new government,” he said. Hamdan said that the new government, under PM Najib Miqati, would fortify the Lebanese scene through overthrowing the foreign tribunal (Special Tribunal for Lebanon) and fighting corruption. “The ministerial statement of this government will be the most important in Lebanon’s history,” he concluded.
